One pain → one feature → launch
2026-02-11 concept manifestoshippingleanfocus
The antidote to “platform thinking”: don’t build a platform, don’t draw a 50-feature roadmap. One pain, one solution, shipped in days.
This isn’t MVP in the lean startup sense (where MVP can be a landing page). It’s a working product solving one specific problem. If nobody wants it — kill it and move on.
Red flags from the manifesto:
- “Just another feature like everyone else has”
- Anything that turns “one function” into “a platform”
- Releases that can’t be rolled back in a day
Connection to barbell: each product is a small bet (10% bucket). Limited downside (days of work), unlimited upside (can become a business). A series of such bets > one big bet.
- manifest-summary — origin: manifesto principle #5
- antifragile-life-design — product as barbell bet: days of work vs potential business
- decision-framework-5-steps — step 4 (risk/reward) evaluates the asymmetry of each launch
- startup-validation — validation framework determines if the pain is worth one feature
